When decorating a kitchen, it is of paramount importance that you select complementary and appropriate colors for the appliances, furniture, floors, and walls. Nowadays, more and more people are opting for black stainless steel appliances for their sharp, shiny, elegant, and intimate appearance. Here’s a list of cabinet colors that go with black stainless steel appliances.

  1. White
  2. Black
  3. Light Oak
  4. Bamboo
  5. Light Gray
  6. Charcoal Gray
  7. Red
  8. Yellow
  9. Cream
  10. Blue

Each of these colors creates a specific type of tone in a room, which is worth considering before making a choice.

Let’s take a look at each of these colors in more detail.

Colors That Go With Black Appliances

1. White

Black and white are a timeless combination.

What I particularly like about white cabinets is that they stand out from the appliances without being overbearing.

If you want to draw attention to the individual sections of the kitchen without selecting bold and punchy colors, please opt for white cabinets with black stainless steel appliances.

2. Black

Black on black is stylish and sleek.

It’s a wonderful way of creating a kitchen that prioritizes a seamless style wherein everything blends into each other.

Black cabinets with black stainless steel appliances will create the illusion of more space if the rest of the room decor is colored appropriately.

3. Light Oak

It may seem like an unusual choice to pair a light oak brown cabinet with black appliances but the combination somehow works.

Light oak is incredibly easy on the eyes. It’s neither too warm nor too cool as a color. The contrasting nature of black draws attention to the appliances without making the cabinets look out of place.

Another reason why light oak is a great choice for cabinets is because it conceals stains due to the varying shades of brown and cream in the wood.

4. Bamboo

Naturally, bamboo has a rich golden color to it but through the treatment process, some of that color can be stripped down until you have what appears to be a warm brown that actually looks good with black steel appliances.

I’m a huge fan of bamboo due to its versatility, durability, and richness. It’s a great way to add some nature and warmth into a kitchen that is otherwise dull and clinical.

Also, I would be remiss not to add that bamboo can be stained to different colors.

So, if you’re not keen on the natural tones of bamboo wood, you could get something that has been stained and colored differently, even a charcoal gray.

5. Light Gray

What I’ve learnt in my time as a blogger who talks about interior decorating and home improvement is that there are certain colors that bring out the very best in each other.

Sometimes, when you have a bold and stark color, it’s best to pair it with a light and neutral color to offset the intensity of the other color.

Light gray cabinets with black stainless steel appliances lend to the coolness and suaveness of a kitchen that maintains a brightness that is accentuated with black appliances.

In a room like this, the stainless steel appliances shine and stand out more while the light gray cabinets subtly blend in.

6. Charcoal Gray

When you have two colors that are closely related to each other, one serves the purpose of accentuating the other.

Black is a bold and stand out color.

Unless it is paired with an opposite counterpart that is bright and vibrant like yellow and white, it’s usually the primary color and most noticeable color.

Charcoal gray is close enough to black but a couple of shades lighter.

As such, it can be used as an accent color to bring out the rich darkness and elegance of the shiny black stainless steel appliances.

For a kitchen that appears intimate but incredibly modern, stylish, elegant, and even futuristic, opt for charcoal gray cabinets and accessories with black appliances.

7. Red

As we know, black may be a bold color but it’s really all about simplicity and elegance in a kitchen. It doesn’t really pop unless it’s paired with an accentuating color.

It just so happens that red does that.

With black, red adds a degree of vibrancy, excitement, energy, and heat to a room decor unlike any other color.

It’s a great way to remain modern while adding a punchy color to the kitchen.

8. Yellow

If black is moody, yellow is exciting. I absolutely adore kitchens that utilize yellow furniture with black appliances.

Sure, it resembles that of a bumblebee but that quirkiness works wonders at adding a touch of personality and fun to your kitchen decor.

You could lean towards a light yellow cabinet with black stainless steel appliances but I would opt for a rich, vibrant, and brightening mustard yellow instead.

9. Cream

You could never go wrong with cream furniture in a home. It’s one of the most common and popular colors used in home decor and for good reason.

It’s cool but appropriately warm, light, and compatible with most color appliances as well as flooring.

Paired with black appliances, cream just fits in and creates a homey vibe altogether.

10. Blue

Have you ever noticed that whenever an esteemed establishment wants to project elegance, they tend to lean towards combining black with red and blue?

Blue is a color that is said to be synonymous with elegance, style, richness, tranquil, peaceful, and intimacy.

If you were to combine blue cabinets with black appliances, you’d end up with a kitchen that can be described as elegant, stylish, rich, tranquil and peaceful.

Final Thoughts

That brings us to the end of this article on cabinet colors that go with black stainless steel appliances.

I’m pretty sure that if you choose any of the colors above, you should have no problem with the end result. But, please keep in mind that the color of the walls and floors matter just as much as that of the appliances and cabinets.

All these colors should compliment each other. At most, have two or three different colors split between these different areas of the kitchen but never more. Why? Because it would make the kitchen appear too busy and overwhelming.

Personally, I love charcoal gray, black, and yellow cabinets with black appliances. They always look elegant and stunning together.
